Hope Chest

WHAT IS THE HOPE CHEST AND WHY DOES IT EXIST?

The Hope Chest is a one-week supply of clothing, toiletries, and other items that are age and gender specific.  The Hope Chest is typically provided to foster families that just took placement of a child, but not limited to foster care.

When a family gets a call to be placed with a child, it is common for that child to arrive within just a few hours of the call.  There is excitement, maybe some unsureness, not sure what to expect, but undoubtedly, busyness!  Depending on the situation, in that first week, there may be doctor appointments, social worker visits, and so on.  We can support a family by supplying clothing, diapers/wipes and other necessary items, giving that family more time to love on that child and help integrate them in to their home.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Please complete the short form below, letting us know that you just took placement of a child.  We will reach out to you as soon as we can and coordinate the delivery or pick-up of a Hope Chest.

The toiletries are new, but the clothing is gently used and second-hand.  We ask that if your child outgrows the clothing or it is not needed, that you donate the clothing back to Child Hope Services so that it can be offered to another.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT AND TAKE ACTION?

The clothing that we include in each Hope Chest is provided through donations to Child Hope Services.  If your child has outgrown their clothing, we would love to recycle your gently used, in good condition clothing and offer them to a child that could use them.  We have high standards regarding our clothing.  Please do not donate clothing that is over-washed, stained, ripped, or otherwise in not good condition.  We value these children and want them to know and feel it!

Another way that you can support, is to buy and donate new, unused toiletries, sippy cups, toys, or simply provide a tax-deductible donation to Child Hope Services.
